I am a high school art teacher.

From a young age, I noticed the privilege of viewing the world through the lens of an artist. I realized how art can add depth and passion to the experience of living. I want to teach all my students what it feels like to perceive their surroundings as an artist.

One of my primary goals as an educator is to cultivate critical thinking and creativity in my students. I encourage them to question assumptions, explore diverse perspectives, and develop their own ideas. By fostering an atmosphere of inquiry, I help students become problem-solvers and independent thinkers.

Studio Art

This is an introductory art class intended for 9th graders who think they might be interested in visual art. The curriculum is shared with other art teachers and spans multiple two-dimensional and three-dimensional media.

Ceramics

In this class, we create projects that utilize all three methods of handbuilding (pinch, slab, and coil). Students are given techniques, contemporary artists as inspiration, and themes. From there, they are responsible for participating in the creative process.

Sculpture

This is an experimental class that utilizes any art media that is not clay. We use cardboard, wire, papier mache, recycled library books, and more to create dynamic artworks.
